What is SRT Therapy

Over the centuries, we as human beings, creators, and innovators have taken many different paths on the journey of understanding the human body. As we evolve, so  does our knowledge, awareness, and even our creativity when it comes to problem solving. As our civilization becomes more technologically advanced, we move forward into a new state mentally, emotionally and physically. This shift also takes place in our brains. The brain is our computer software, being uploaded 24-7 with sensory input from physical and emotional experiences.

This can have both positive and negative effects on our entire existence moving forward as a species. The need to get back to understanding just how interconnected our entire systems of emotions, energy and the physical body are is extremely important in our evolution of true healing. All physical ailments, chronic pain, or suffering,  begin with energy. Whether you choose to believe in the energetic pieces that contribute to the physical, or not, is simply mute. Physics has proven to us scientifically that energy is everything, and that energy lies at the center of all things. This is a n extremely important part of SRT Therapy.

Emotions and feelings are pieces of energy being experienced within the various bodies. You have more than just your physical body, which include a variety of energetic bodies, which will be discussed more later on. You can’t physically touch an emotion or a feeling can you? It’s not something that you can see or taste, is it? And yet, we know that emotions and feelings exist. One end of science looks at how the chemical reactions in the brain and the hormone imbalances in the physical body affect one’s emotions, while the other school of thought is that the energy and emotions actually have a physical effect on the body, causing the chemical releases and the physical body to react to the emotional energy.

Either way you lean,  when you are not addressing the underlying energetic level, these energies and emotions will manifest themselves on the physical level, in order to further get our attention. Sometimes you don’t listen or understand what your energetic body is trying to convey to you. It can be subtle, but over time left untreated and unacknowledged, the physical communication of pain, restriction, injury, or disease will be the final attempt to get our attention that something needs healing. If you only address the physical, how are you able to fully heal the full body, mind, heart, and spirit as an entire being, and not a single part of the whole?

Fascia has begun making its way into the forefront of research over the last few years, with more and more focus on this extremely complex system. On a physical end our bodies are wrapped with at least 3 different types of fascial tissue that resembles an intricate spider web, coating the muscular and skeletal systems, weaving its way around the organs and blood vessels. Fascia is the life force of the body. We will dive more into this section in the 5 Foundational Pillars of SRT as we go.

As the western world of health likes to approach healing and repair from the more scientific and physical end of the spectrum, the eastern world tends to approach healing and repair from the emotional and energetic end of that same spectrum. Now, while we have two different approaches and a whole lot of techniques and modalities that exist between the two, we have to understand that they are still two sides of the same coin. To understand true healing, not just physical “fixing” of a mechanical issue, you need to understand that the two sides are always intertwined together.

Simply treating the physical or the energetic issue will only bring you so far. This is because they are both a never ending cycle working together always in all ways. There is a reason that a dead body is cold, rigid and lifeless. There is no energy, emotion or life force operating in tandem with the physical body any longer. The result is death. When one system decides to give up, both systems will crash. They have to work co-dependently of one another at all times for maximum efficiency and function. There is no other option.

You are completely intertwined from both levels and the fascia is your connective tissue bridging the gap between spirit, energy, emotion and our physical body. It is the channel of communication from your energetic self to your physical self. All conditions originate in the energetic body and are transmitted to the physical body through the autonomic nervous system, just  like a conduit. This channel of communication is where your spirit, mind, consciousness, or whatever you choose to call it, and physical body intertwine.

One of the biggest issues that people seem to be plagued with in today’s day in age still is protocol when it comes to therapy. All doctors, and therapists, and even healers fall into the habit of protocol. While having a path to follow and a system in place is a great way to help people, it does not ever work for everyone. The reason that protocol, at least from a physical standpoint does not work for everyone, is because it neglects to take into account the very real emotional and energetic experiences, and traumas, that each individual person has lived through, and is currently going through. This is an extremely important piece to understanding the clients perspective, reality, and the very beliefs that have been formed or programmed into creating the world that they are living in. More on this during the Belief System section.

Why is this so important to understand though?

EGO. One of the answers has to do with the ego. Ego is the structure of our belief systems, the expectation in the outcome. With SRT Therapy, we strive to detach from Ego, let go of all expectations, in order to open the gateway for true listening and interpersonal communication with the clients mind and body. With an open mind and an open heart, we allow physical and energetic communication to lead the session. This first step in communication leads to a sensation of safety for our client’s systems. Feeling safe is the prerequisite for releasing pain and allowing the nervous system to switch from sympathetic “Fight or Flight” to a parasympathetic  “Rest and Digest” state, where the healing and restoration can begin to occur.

Ego can be a dangerous trap that you easily fall into. As a noun the Ego is described as a person's sense of self- esteem or self-importance. When you are complimented for helping someone heal or feel better, that becomes an ego boost. With each success and with each compliment the ego can grow bigger and bigger, and thus take over how you view your practice, and your clients. But what happens when your ego has become inflated and then there is a client that you can’t help, or that has told you that your session made them feel worse?

The ego takes a blow, and you take it personal because you have allowed yourself to attach to the results and your self-esteem has grown over time, usually also along with the expectation that protocol has been working. This knocks you down a step, and then you might second guess yourself in your practice. So it becomes very important to understand how and why to detach from your ego, and understand that you are simply a guide that is here to assist the client. It is not your responsibility to “fix” them. That is ego talking. It is your job to listen, communicate, and help assist them in their healing process. There is a major difference, and we will cover that more in the sections of belief systems and feelings/emotions.
